I’ve been on a margarita kick for a couple weeks now since the weather has been so nice on the East Coast. I seriously think I could drink margaritas everyday! This one is refreshing, yet sweet with a little unexpected heat from the jalapeño.
Jalapeño Guava Margarita
- 1.5 ounces silver tequila
- 3 ounces guava juice
- juice from 2 limes
- juice from 1 orange
- 0.5 ounces jalapeño simple syrup: recipe follows
- salt or sugar for rim
I used José Cuervo Especial Silver for this margarita. Honestly I prefer añejo tequila even for my margaritas, but I thought the silver would work best for these flavors. I also didn’t add Cointreau, because I was out of it, but if you have it, feel free to add a splash.
Use your lime to coat the rim of your glass. Dip rim in salt or sugar, I prefer sugar especially for this drink. Add your ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and give it a few good shakes. Strain and pour into your glass.
Jalapeño Simple Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 jalapeños chopped
Place ingredients in a medium pot on medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir mixture until sugar has dissolved. Place the lid on the pot and steep for 30 minutes. Strain mixture and let cool. The mixture can be refrigerated for about a month.
